Why Parabola?

Parabola Software is a small, dynamic software company based in Surbiton (near Kingston-upon-Thames) specialising in state of the art IT solutions for a range of clients. Our projects range from web applications through to systems for managing entire business processes. We often utilise a Microsoft product such as SharePoint or we might build a bespoke solution based upon Microsoft .Net. All of our employees are graduates and we pride ourselves on both the quality of our software design and our ability to help our clients manage the changes needed to implement the new systems successfully. As our client base grows we urgently need to add to our high calibre team of employees.

The Role

Initially, the role is for a graduate to work with our systems and software experts, on tasks which will encompass understanding client needs and requirements, developing and implementing solutions, and overcoming problems as these arise. The successful candidate will need to be able to analyse possible methods of resolution and then recommend, plan and build an optimum solution depending on the applications available and other commercial constraints. In particular, he or she will be required to become familiar with, and critically assess new technologies, so as to judge when and how new components should be used. Over time, as new skills are acquired, there will be considerable scope for the incumbent to develop the role in other directions if these are of interest.

The Candidate

We are looking for someone who...

  • Is a graduate with a computing, science or maths degree, familiar with such concepts as object-oriented programming, relational databases, operating systems, networks, servers etc and with experience of widely used programming languages such as Java or .NET
  • Loves technology and is keen to see it really deliver in the real world
  • Is a quick learner with energy and enthusiasm to get grips with complex problems whilst working with and learning from the rest of the team
  • Is a very good communicator who can develop effective relationships with other people, both internal and external to Parabola.
