Quantum - innovative scheduling software for restaurant chains delivered
Profitability in the restaurant industry is all about managing labour costs whilst providing a service with many peaks and troughs in demand during each working day. If too many staff are available labour is wasted, too few and sales are lost. Success can be achieved by forecasting demand and effectively scheduling the right level of labour hour by hour.
Quantum is built on web architecture so that it can be used on almost any PC with an Internet connection. The restaurant outlet can use the tools to schedule their labour and record their actual time via a clocking interface. Graphic tools enable the local manager to quickly identify problems and optimise his scheduling.

The complexity of the calculations does not detract from the ease of use of the interface. By working closely with Now-How Parabola were able to meet all of their requirements to produce a robust and scalable solution which is easy to use by both outlet workers and management.
Written using Microsoft’s .NET 2.0 technologies with a SQL Server database and SQL Server Reporting Services the system is hosted by Parabola at its facilities in the Docklands.
Now-How took final delivery in June 2006 and are now successfully marketing the system in the UK and France. The first few clients are already reporting benefits in terms reduced labour costs and increased sales through improved scheduling.
