AMI generate revenue from online subscriptions

Parabola has been working with Applied Market Information Ltd (AMI) to enable them to offer some of their plastics industry intelligence and data online. This has already generated new revenue for AMI and offers them the opportunity of offering more plastics industry sectors data online using the same approach.

AMI is a specialist market research and consulting company serving the global chemicals and plastics industry and has been established for over 20 years. Parabola has worked closely with AMI for the last 7 years and now supports all of its software including back office and online applications.

AMI has sold its specialist industry knowledge by printed books, directories and CDs for many years. Over recent years AMI have begun to appreciate there is a market for delivering this sort of product online. To test that market they decided to offer a journal and directory to subscribers via the internet.

Parabola have developed the solution to manage online access via the web site and integrated this with AMI’s back office systems. The new service went live on March 14th 2008 and the initial revenues generated have met expectations.

The directory service consists of an online tool to search a worldwide directory of BOPP Film producers. The data is secured using Microsoft .Net technology and ensures only individual users who have paid a subscription can access the data.

All subscriptions are handled within the back office system linked by a XML web service to the web server to control access for subscribers.
