Oxford & Cherwell Valley College Go Live with SharePoint 2007

The OCVC Staff Portal

Staff at Oxford and Cherwell Valley College (OCVC) have begun using SharePoint 2007 following a successful implementation by Parabola.

Parabola have completed Phase 1 of the Oxford and Cherwell Valley College (OCVC) SharePoint project in time for the start of the summer term, replacing the existing SharePoint 2003 intranet with a Staff Portal built using SharePoint 2007.

The Staff Portal has been designed with a clear hierarchical structure to allow staff to easily find the information they require. All staff teams and groups now have an area to work and collaborate in with content from the old intranet migrated over.

Targeted news has removed the need to use ‘All Staff’ emails and SharePoint 2007’s powerful search tools have been utilised to search existing file shares.

External access means that all staff are able to work offsite or from home without the need for saving documents to a memory stick. Staff have been given their own MySite with storage for personal documents and access to their emails.

Chris Miles – ILT Manager at OCVC commented on the success of the project:

After all the weeks of planning and development it was a great experience to demonstrate the new Portal to a group of staff on the morning it went live and get such a positive response .’

OCVC and Parabola will now begin to plan Phase 2 – a College Portal for use by students.
